Nickel-cadmium battery (Ni-Cd battery or NiCad battery) is a rechargeable battery that uses nickel hydroxide and cadmium metal as electrodes. Nickel-cadmium batteries are less widely used today due to the presence of cadmium, which is harmful to the environment. Unlike other battery types, NiCd batteries are more costly.
